They say that with great power comes great responsibility.
Now, I don’t know about all that. But I can say that after passing our 200th garage cleaned, we’ve recognized the power that we have as a company and the responsibility that comes with that power.
Right from the start, we wanted our company to be different. We wanted to do things differently and really make this company our own.
This mindset is what led us to name our company “Periwinkle”. It’s what led us to choose purple as our primary color. It’s what led us to make all the decisions that have brought us to where we are today, 20 months down the road and coming up on our 2 year anniversary. A 30, flirty, and thriving small business.
Being that we are a millennial founded business, we care about the environment. We sport our Klean Kanteen’s and our Swells on the desks of our meetings. We try to only wash our jeans every other month. Heck, we even grow plants on our porches to help reduce our environmental footprint (Shoutout to Jordo).
But it wasn’t until recently that we started to really think seriously about the future and the power we have to either contribute to or detract from the ever growing amount of things ending up in our land fills.
It’s easy to shame us for not putting this as a priority from the start. And we aren’t saying that we didn’t recycle things when we could. In fact, our hauling service that we’ve used from the start has recycled all along. But the point is, it was never front of our minds. It was never a priority for us. We had good excuses though - making payroll, paying taxes, getting customers, cleaning garages, hiring people, and the list pretty much continues for paragraphs.
Until recently, we have been in a cash flow dogfight to survive. Going “Green” has been more of a dream than an eminent reality for us… Until today.
Today, Periwinkle has officially committed to take the Periwinkle Pledge and we challenge you to consider doing the same.
The Periwinkle Pledge is a commitment to acting as responsibly as possible when it comes to our waste. And let me tell you friends, in the business of cleaning and organizing garages, there is a lot of waste. A LOT.
Woah, I guess the Proof really is in the Purple.
We decided to take the #PeriwinklePledge because we acknowledge that acting responsibly in all of our operational efforts will not only benefit our company in the long run, but also will benefit our children and create a better, happier, neater, cleaner, safer world.
Today, Periwinkle is Oklahoma’s favorite garage cleaning and organization company.
Tomorrow, Periwinkle will be the world’s favorite cleaning and organization company.
We pledge from today forward to operate with environmental responsibility as a forethought, not an afterthought.
We have taken the #PeriwinklePledge.
